Mission & Impact Statement

Our Mission & Impact

The Spirit of Music Foundation inspires hope, healing, and empowerment through the power of live music, meaningful lyrics, and motivational storytelling.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Sarasota, Florida, we bring uplifting musical experiences to people who often cannot afford them, including residents of nursing homes, hospitals, Boys & Girls Clubs, veteran halfway houses, rehabilitation programs, and correctional facilities.

We believe music is more than entertainment, it is a powerful force that can lift spirits, create human connection, and remind people that they matter.

In addition to live performances, we also collect and distribute new and gently used musical instruments and sometimes help provide music lessons, giving people of all ages the opportunity to begin or continue their journey of discovering the healing power of music.

Our mission is to energize lives, spark joy, and create opportunities for lasting positive change through the universal language of music.

About Tony & janie

Tony "Saint Tone" Lavorgna

Tony “Saint Tone” Lavorgna, Founder and President of Spirit of Music, has been a professional musician for more than 40 years. As a singer-songwriter and performer, Tony has traveled extensively sharing his music and uplifting message with audiences around the world.

Throughout his career, Tony has been passionate about bringing music to people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. He has performed for U.S. troops overseas, at special community events, rehabilitation centers, assisted living communities, and correctional facilities including the Los Angeles County Jail, Tampa Jail, and Sarasota County Jail.

Through these experiences, Tony has witnessed firsthand the powerful impact that music can have on people facing difficult circumstances. Whether in a nursing home, recovery center, or correctional facility, he believes music has the unique ability to lift spirits, inspire hope, and remind people that they are not alone.

In recognition of his humanitarian efforts and dedication to helping others through music, Tony was honored as a recipient of the F. Richard Kelley Humanitarian Award.

Through Spirit of Music, Tony continues his mission of sharing the healing power of music with individuals and communities who need encouragement, connection, and hope.
